One of Cnergyico\u2019s major strategic advantages is its Single Point Mooring (SPM) facility. Made operational in 2012, Cnergyico\u2019s SPM is the only floating liquid port in the country, allowing Cnergyico to import crude oil and refined petroleum products directly. Cnergyico\u2019s SPM is a strategic asset for Pakistan\u2019s economy and is considered a National Asset. The SPM is situated 15 km from Cnergyico\u2019s refinery, connected to the refinery storage tanks via 11.5 km undersea and 3.3 km onshore pipeline. The SPM imported its first shipment of crude oil in December 2012, and has been in continuous operation since then, including the severe monsoon season which was previously considered impossible for the area. Cnergyico\u2019s SPM has handled around 16 million metric tons of crude oil since inception, and feeds the crude requirement of Cnergyico\u2019s refining complex. Due to its being positioned in the deep sea, the SPM\u2019s depth of 26 meters allows much larger vessels (VLCC\u2019s, or Very Large Crude Carriers) to deliver much larger shipment of oil and products, providing economies of scale to the Company. Cnergyico catered Pakistan\u2019s record largest ever shipment of crude of 102,000 metric tons through the SPM in 2017.<\/p>\n
In January 2021, Cnergyico conducted the ground-breaking of its \u201cUpgrade-I\u201d Project, which includes the installation of Pakistan\u2019s largest, state-of-the-art Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (FCC) unit and a Diesel Hydro Desulphurizing (DHDS) unit. This upgrade will allow Cnergyico to reduce the Sulphur content of diesel produced and convert furnace oil into gasoline and diesel, enabling the company to be the first Pakistani refiner to produce Euro V compliant fuels.<\/p>\n
